Cream pie is a “type of pie or cake filled with a rich custard or pudding that is made from milk, cream, flour, and eggs.” This is a one-crust pie. The crust may be made from crumbled cookies or graham wafers or a traditional pie crust. Vanilla, lemon, lime, peanut butter, banana, coconut, and chocolate are some of the many forms of cream pie. What I love about it is the whipped cream topping. Its custard filling is connected to the French crème ‘patissière’ which is a ‘key component’ of many French cakes and tarts. According to Wikipedia, “the crust may be a standard pie crust made with flour and lard.”
I will introduce to you the woman who won over our diet, Dorothy. Dorothy lives in the suburbs of Sacramento, California. She is a wife and a mom. She has a great passion for cookies, ice cream, cupcakes, and pies. This passion has encouraged her to create a blog. “Crazy for Crust started in 2010 to showcase my love of pie and crust. (It really is the best part!) A short time in, I realized that I really liked creating desserts – all of them. I love a freshly baked cookie, a fudgy rich brownie. I love homemade ice cream and perfectly decorated cupcakes…and I love pie. So this blog evolved into what it is today: my dessert creations, sometimes crazy, often with a crust, and always served with a slice of my life,” says Dorothy.
Did you learn something? “A lot!” Great! Now it is time for you to enjoy! The link to the recipe is found on the "Crazy for Crust" website below.
